What Is titanium dioxide ink?
Titanium dioxide ink typeis a special technology of TiO₂ paint developed for the purpose of printing ink systems. Being one of the widest usage in the ink sector, it offers the basic whiteness, transparency and clarity that determine the vision of either the white or the colored ink formulation in a wide variety of printing applications.
In the production of ink, TiO₂ acts as the first opaque and white agent. It has a very high refractive index — about 2.7 for rutile class — which allows it to disperse visible light more effectively than any other white pigment, providing maximum hiding power at competitive loading levels. Ink-grade TiO₂ has been subjected to surface treatment and grinding in order to obtain optimum grain size distribution and dispersion in the ink truck, providing a smooth, steady composition that is compatible with solvent based, water based, UV curing, and energy curing ink systems. It can be applied to all kinds of printing processes including offset, flexo, gravure, screen-printing, and digital printing.
